Economic transformation begun in Poland in 1989 and has not stopped yet. Dynamic development and changes make Poland a modern country. Polish living standards are getting closer to the living standard of Western European countries. From wine sector point of view is very interesting and promising market.
Changing the way of life, the transformation of the economic system began deep changes in the structure of alcohol consumption. More people drink wine replacing strong spirits. Furthermore, wine is not any more consumed only on special occasions, it is slowly becoming an everyday drink. According to polls, wine consumption in Poland grows yearly ca. 15%, however consumption per capita is still very low 2.5 liters per year. In the opinion of wine industry experts, this trend will maintain and in next year wine consumption will double. Currently the main suppliers of wine to the Polish market are Bulgaria, France, Italy and USA, but the fastest consumption increase is noted for beverages from the New World: mainly Chile and Argentina.
